She could talk to almost anybody and have them swimming in the palm of her hand, but she had very few real friends.
The student council made up most of it. The people who got used to her, who were nice to her regardless of what she did or said, and the people she didn't mind helping out at all. They were like a little family to her – the sort she could mess about with like she would with her brothers, and could smack upside the head when they started acting up around her.
After all, she didn't catch any of the boys trying to peek under her skirts or the girls giving her dirty looks or any of them spreading rumours about how she'd slept with a teacher on the faculty board to get better grades.
She'd flirted with one to get a whiteboard for the student council and that was it. She had morals after all – and only the ones who knew her well enough for her to call them a friend saw that.
