A/N: I would like to apologize for the long wait and thank Lady Vivienne, syahsyira, and Mrs. Flash for reviewing, with a special shout out to Mrs. Flash for motivating me to write this.
Disclaimer: I don't own Batman.
Wayne.
Bruce Wayne.
The billionaire.
Gordon didn't understand. It didn't make any sense. How?
The man was conceited.
A jerk.
Playboy.
Selfish.
Stuck up.
Bruce Wayne as Batman? Ridiculous. If it weren't for the dead body in front of him he would have laughed.
But somehow, it did make sense.
Batman needed money.
Bruce Wayne had money. A lot of money.
Bruce Wayne disappeared. When he came back, the Batman appeared.
And the man who said he knew who Batman was, Coleman Reese, was the financial adviser for Wayne enterprises.
Slowly Gordon's brain registered the truth.
Bruce Wayne is, no was, Batman.
The public still sat there, still stunned. The mask had been removed but they couldn't believe their eyes. The richest man in Gotham, the Batman? Some people had met Bruce Wayne, and he was the last person they thought of when they imagined who the Batman was. The Batman was a selfless hero who had saved their lives. Multiple times. Wayne wasn't. Not at all
Was it really all an act?
But then they started to register the truth.
They pieced together the facts like Gordon - it fit like a well made puzzle, it made sense.
Bruce Wayne was Batman. Bruce Wayne saved their lives.
He could have done anything, anything he ever wanted would have been his if he had just asked for it. And he had chosen to help Gotham – the city that killed his parents. He had chosen to go out and fight crime and villians for them. He had chosen to be blamed for something he didn't do!
He had put his life on the line for them. And some of them weren't sure they deserved it.
Slowly Gordon started to clap. The sound was awkward for a moment, and then others took it up. Bruce Wayne, Batman, a man who could have done anything but chose to save their lives was dead. If he could help why couldn't they?
Batman was dead…
…Yet hope remains.
Bit shorter than last time, I hope you liked it! Review Please!
