Starting early has it's consequences...
It was almost ten o'clock, and everyone who was staying the night was getting ready for bed. Sirius had begun to sway on the spot. He just stood up to go fetch himself a glass of water, and the world was struggling to slip out from under him. He fell forward onto his hands and knees with a thud, but the world kept spinning even from this lower altitude. Then suddenly there was a deafening thudding that surprised him. It was an earthquake. He had been sure he wouldn't be able to hear anything over the sound of his own heartbeat. He closed his eyes and pressed his fingers into his eyelids to try to hold his eyes into their sockets because surely they were about to pop out with all the pressure that was behind them. When he opened his eyes again the earthquake had ceased, but he could see Remus' stockinged feet infront of him, and he could only assume the rest of him was attached. He looked up to be sure and regretted it instantly. A wave of nausea crashed over him.
"Are you alright?" Remus seemed to be shouting in his ear.
He opened his mouth as if to speak and retched all over Remus's socks.
"What the- Shit!" Remus exclaimed. He snatched up his wand off of the coffee table, and cast a quick scourgify on his feet and the carpet. "This is what happens when you start drinking before noon you ass. You're hungover by ten o' clock. If this isn't fantastic."
Sirius felt considerably better after puking, or atleast he wasn't nearly so nauseous. "This only happens if people with your best interests at heart make you stop drinking before dinner. If you finish up the day you won't be sick till morning"
"You're blaming someone else for your ten o'clock hangover. Why are we friends?"
The temporary lift of nausea had ceased, but this time Sirius managed to puke away from Remus. The smell made Remus's nose wrinkle, but he cast another cleaning charm and sighed. As an afterthought he also summoned a vase and place it on the floor infront of Sirius. Sirius thanked him by puking into it loudly. "Bout ready to move, or dyou need one more go?"
Sirius sat back on his heels and sat up experimentally. He swayed a bit for a moment before deciding he was ready for the next step and standing up. He took the hand Remus offered and pulled himself to his feet. Remus helped him upto his room without further mishap, and deposited him on his bed to sleep it off. As an afterthought he turned him onto his side in the hopes that he wouldn't choke on his own vomit. As Remus was leaving Sirius called to him, "The plus side of being hungover at bedtime is that you've got nothing better to do than sleep it off."
..and it' s rewards.
