"I can't believe I called Yellow Diamond a clod... Right to her face!"
Peridot chuckled, paused, then grimaced.
"... I called Yellow Diamond a clod. Right to her face...!" she looked down at the ground, eyes wide with disbelief. She then felt the comforting hand of the Gem hybrid on her shoulder.
"Hey," said Steven. "don't worry about it! Besides, you're one of us now!"
Peridot looked at the boy, then smiled weakly. "Y-yeah... Yeah..." Steven returned the smile.
"Steven! Dinner is ready!" came the voice of the renegade Pearl. Peridot frowned. "Oh, I'll be back soon, okay?" said Steven as he ran off into the house.
Peridot sighed and ran her fingers through the soft sand of the beach, watching the ocean as it rippled back and forth. According to the perma-fusion, Lapis and Jasper's fusion was somewhere at the bottom of this very ocean. Peridot still didn't know very much about fusion, but she knew enough to know that there's was far from stable. How long had it been? An Earth year or so? The green Gem rolled her eyes. Of course it had. The Crystal Gem's incompetence is beyon- Wait... She was one now, wasn't she? She sighed again, and looked up at the stars. It didn't take her long to find Homeworld. It was exactly where Garnet said it was.
Why couldn't Yellow Diamond understand? This planet was one of a kind. Surely another planet would have sufficed for the Cluster? What did Yellow Diamond have against the Earth?
Peridot remembered her previous leaders' words, and shuddered.
"I want my Cluster, and I want that planet to DIE."
What would she do to her now? Peridot is now working for the enemy. Surely she would be shattered for this...!
Tears began streaming down her face. No... That won't happen... The Crystal Gems would protect her...
Suddenly, she was blinded by a bright light shining in her face. She squinted, and looked up. To her shock, a large diamond-shaped screen was hovering just above the water. The screen then flashed, revealing a face Peridot knew all too well.
Yellow Diamond.
