She blinked. Bright light was all around her. It burned her eyes. Gradually, her vision adjusted. The place she was in looked like nothing she'd seen before. Beneath her was a seamless white floor. It seemed to almost glow from its brilliance. It was whiter than a new sheet of paper or a brand new shirt. Surrounding her was a sort of fog or mist, she couldn't tell which. Light seemed to come from everywhere, even though it seemed to defy all science.

Suddenly, a plethora of memories flooded her. Eyes wide, she gasped and froze in shock. Eventually when she began to breathe again it was at a faster rate than normal. "Ron!" she screamed. "RON!" Tears started down her cheeks as she strained her ears for any noise.

From faraway she heard a voice call, "KP! Kim!" With blurry eyes she stumbled over to the source.

She hit something solid and arms encircled her, pulling her tight. "Kim," said Ron's voice. She buried her head in his shoulder. Fingers stroked her hair as she sobbed. "I know, I know," he said in her ear.

She calmed herself enough to speak. "It really happened?" she asked, almost pleading to him to deny it. His only response was a tightening of his embrace.

Eventually after Kim's cheeks had dried she raised her head and looked at her partner. A solemn expression graced his face and tears glistened in his eyes. After a moment of looking into her eyes his expression became fiercely protective. No harm would come to his KP if he could do something about it. However, looking at her tear-stained face a part of him knew there was nothing he could do. Not about that.

With red eyes Kim asked, "What happens now?"

He closed his eyes. "We go on."

She closed her eyes, too and tilted her head forward until her forehead rested against his. There, they rested for a moment.

"Wherever we go, we go together, no matter what."

"Agreed," Kim said, swallowing. "I love you."

"I love you, too."

They opened their eyes and stared at each other. It was as if they were memorizing every detail about each other. Every line, every freckle, every hair, every tear. Nothing slipped by. After coming to a sort of agreement they closed the few inches between them. Lips met, softly caressing each other. When they pulled apart they knew it was time.

Off in the distance where the fog seemed to be thickest a great light shined. Instinctively, they knew that was where they had to go. It was time to move on.

Their hands found each other and fingers intertwined. Together they walked towards the light. Fog grew around them, the air felt warmer, and a deep voice resounded in their ears. Kim and Ron smiled. They were coming home.
