Eheh. I wanted to write a Haku drabble... this isn't the last one either.

"Mom?" he gasped. Blinking, he realized that he was not looking at his mother's face, but his own reflection.

He had always looked quite like his mother, but now, with his hair longer and looking the mirror for the forst time in more than a year, the resemblance was striking. Absentmindedly, he ran his hand through his long brown mane.

"Mom..." he said again, sadly. He would never see his mother again.

Looking back, Haku realized that he had always been more like his mother. Not just in looks. His father has been loud, blunt, and rude, but Haku's mother has always been quiet, withdrawn, polite. Needless to say, Haku had been much more attacked to his mother as well. Maybe that was why they were so similiar.

Haku washed his face, then headed for the kitchen. Zabuza was already there, munching on an apple. When he saw his subordinate walk into the room, the Demon of the Mist grunted, "There's instant oatmeal in the cupboard."

The long-haired boy nodded and set about making himself breakfast. After awhile, Zabuza broke the comfortable silence.

"Say, Haku, should I get your hair cut? It's getting a little long."

Haku paused. "If it's all right, Zabuza-san, I'd like to keep it this length."

Zabuza shrugged and went back to eating his apple.

Later, Haku was walking through the streets when he saw a bottle of nail polish through a shop window-- almpst exactly the same shade of green as his mother used to wear.

Wordlessly, Haku turned to enter the store.
