Because he could not stop to jump…
Because he could not stop to jump
I kindly forced his feet
The rooftop held but just ourselves
And Anticipation.
I slowly explained, did his mind not know haste?
And all because I had put away
My labour, and my leisure too,
For the chance to make him fall.
We looked down on the street where cars passed by,
Filled with people with boring lives;
We saw the commuters as small as ants,
We saw the buses too.
We paused to look down
Over the edge;
No one could see us,
Up on the roof.
Since then 'tis three years; but each
Feels shorter than the day
I first contacted,
My dearest nemesis.
