Hermione rolled her eyes as Lavender and Parvati sat on the blonde girl's bed, twittering over a large crystal ball.

"I see a very handsome man in your future, Lavender, with red hair and blue eyes," Parvati said, throwing the two of them into a fit of giggles.

Red hair and blue eyes? The only guy who fit that description was...

Hermione's face grew hot, turning red in anger and slight embarrassment. "That's a complete load of rubbish," she said loud enough for the other girls to hear.

The girls glared over at her before Lavender said, "It's not rubbish. It's true. The crystal ball does not lie."

Hermione put her book to the side and said, "I'll make a prediction right now and show you it's rubbish."

Hermione walked over to the bed and sat between the girls, pulling the ball towards her. She began to rub her hands over the ball's surface as she had seen them doing previously, white clouds swirling beneath her fingers before they started to take shape and colour.

"I see... a talking bird with large coloured feathers walking through the halls, wearing glasses and long robes," Hermione said. "A peacock at Hogwarts? See, complete rubbish."

Lavender growled before she snatched the ball back. "That doesn't prove anything. That's not a real prediction, and you don't even have the Eye. Professor Trelawney said so."

Hermione frowned as she moved back to her own bed. "I don't need the Eye to read clouds," she said as she went back into her book. They could live in their fantasy world.

The next morning, the three girls descended the stairs and exited the common room, Lavender and Parvati talking between themselves as they walked ahead of Hermione.

"Oh, Good Morning, girls. Heading down to breakfast?" a dreamy voice asked they rounded the corner. Standing before them was Professor Trelawney wearing long robes of vivid blues and greens, a few feathers sticking out of the cloth wrapped around her auburn hair.

After the older woman walked a bit ahead of them, Lavender and Parvati turned around to Hermione, the surprise on their faces matching her own. But then small smile crossed their lips and Hermione frowned before pushing past them.

"This proves nothing," she said over her shoulders as she continued down to the Great Hall.
