Comments: Not sure about this one but I hope you like it....gunna be my last one for a while xx

He could hear the gentle huffing sounds escaping from her lips as she carefully cleaned his wound.

"Is there something bothering you Guinevere?" Arthur asked as he watched her perfect eyes now look at him! She had not spoken to him since he had arrived back..she was obviously annoyed with him.

She stared at him for a second as if thinking whether to speak or not, but instead she let out a sigh and continued at the task at hand, cleaning the large gash across his perfect chest.

As she went to place the cloth again on his chest he grabbed the hand holding the cloth. "Guinevere?"

He held her hand mid air, the drops from the cloth dripping on the floor...his eyes searched hers for the answer to his original question.

Gwen looked away from him and to her feet "I can't stand this!" she said quietly.

Arthur immediately thought the sight of blood too much for her "Of course, sorry...Gauis can tend to my wounds I should not have presumed...." she stopped his rambling by a simple look.

"It is not the blood that bothers me, well it is in part it's just um..." she bit her lip, not knowing how to continue.

"Guinevere please" she looked from his open wound to his pleading eyes and pulled her hand from his and continued cleaning his wound to avoid eye contact. Arthur let out a sigh.

"I can't stand seeing you hurt" she said quietly as she rinsed the bloody cloth again. "I can't stand watching you ride out to face unknown dangers and not...." she faltered and finally looked at him, his eyes swam with a pool of emotions, none of them readable.

So she continued before she lost her nerve "When you rode out today...I didn't say goodbye, I couldn't, I shouldn't....but I kept thinking if you did not return...." she cleared her throat a lump now forming in it "I thought of all things I have yet to say to you...and I know it's foolish, because I am just a ....." the look on his face stopped her completing that sentence, he looked injured deeper than a mere flesh wound. "I wish you did not have to go!"

He reached his hand up and rubbed away a tear that now graced her perfect skin.

"I ride to battle out of duty Guinevere....but I return only for simple moments like this...for moments of perfection in amongst all the anger and the blood. I return because you once asked me to live for you..... I fight not only for the love of Camelot, but I fight for the love of a just a servant!"

Her heart broke then and there, the walls so carefully built around her came tumbling down... "I..." she couldn't speak her throat tightened her heart ached.

"Have faith in us Guinevere" his hand gently stroked her face.

Gwen nodded and he wished he could kiss the pain away, but their current location would not allow for that.

He watched as she now continued to clean the wound...when she finished and helped him back on with his tunic, she leant towards his ear "I love you"....she then placed the cloth in the bowl and walked away.

Arthur sadly smiled....those three words he had waited to hear from her lips for what felt like a lifetime...they had a battle ahead, a war between love and propriety. He would win, he had to because a life without her, was just too painful to think about!
