This is a short drabble I wrote to accompany a picture I drew. That's how a lot of my fan fiction ideas start actually. Its fun to imagine something to go along with a visual and it can result in amazing stories (in fact Ridley Scott's film Alien was based on a piece of art done by H. R. Giger). Not that my work is really all that impressive. It's a story taking place during TP and it features Link and Midna, (SPOILER ALERT if you haven't played and still don't know the twist skip the rest of this sentence) it takes place as they're heading for the final confrontation at Hyrule castle after defeating Zant. Please enjoy and reviews are appreciated.
The Hour of Twilight
The wind whistled through the long mountain grass. The breeze felt pleasant against Links skin. He drew in a deep breath of the air and turned to see Midna staring out at the sunset sinking behind the western mountains. Her orange hair seemed to shine like fire in the twilight, her tiny figure shadowed in the fading light. He stepped up next to her mesmerized by the beauty of everything. The sky was alight with fierce red, bright oranges, and deep shades of purple which made the very air around them seem golden.
He turned to her and saw tears streaming down her round cheeks. Link suddenly thought on how hard all this must be for her. These fleeting glimpses, brief reminders of the world see loved, before she was again thrown into a world of harsh light of cold darkness. Link reached out taking her small hand in his and giving it a gentle squeeze.
She quickly glanced down at their joined hands before gazing up at his reassuring smile. The image made her heart skip a beat. Immediately she glanced away wiping the tears from her face with the back of her hand, complaining in the odd language of the twili. She was embarrassed that he had seen her cry and annoyed that she was more embarrassed than annoyed at him for surprising her. It was her job to surprise him. Finally she turned back to him with her classic smirk now in place. In the fading twilight Link couldn't help but notice how cute Midna was, cursed form or not.

I know, it's so short but it was a fleeting idea in my mind and I had to get it across quickly, sorry. On the bright side I've got a longer Zelda fan fiction ion the works (multi chapter!).
