The fresh scent of the pine forest filled the thin, cool breeze sweeping through the area as the lake's waters reflected the warm sun rays. Birds called in the clear sky as UV rays shone down upon the freshly crafted Pyroshark nest, just along the lake's bank. A female Pyroshark treads water idly next to her nest, awaiting prey to pass by. The date is 2016, June 16. Usually, 2016 would be a Leap Year, but to the Pyrosharks it is not.

The Leap Year tradition is replaced with the Hunting Year, a time where all prey is said to be plentiful. This has proved itself thus far, with her offspring still chewing the meat-covered bone marrow of an adolescent Scootgull. Occasionally, the female will duck her masked cranium into the depths of the lake, to watch for aquatic prey. She spots a Spyseal, and ducks into the depths of the water, ready to strike.

The Spyseal swims joyfully, unbeknownst to it's impending death. With one quick strike, the Spyseal is wounded. It cries out and attempts to swing around, only to get quickly killed by the Pyroshark. She is contented. Her descendants will not go hungry any time soon.

The female Pyroshark swims agilely through the smooth waters of the deep lake, digging a quick tunnel into the soil below. She buries the food until her pups need it most, seeing as they are full and content with the previous meal that she had hunted earlier in the day.

She surfaces, swimming gracefully towards her nest where her children eagerly await her return. The group quickly share a cuddle, before the Pyroshark lays down on the bank to rest. The droplets on her attire slowly evaporate as the UV rays shine down upon her cool, water-kissed skin.
