Gift
the plain white box in her lap was something she was hesitant to open.
Helena has received many gifts in her lifetime. But never had she accepted them, until now. This faithful day where she had a plain, pure white box on her doorstep. It was covered by many other gifts wrapped with colourful wrapping paper. She had never opened them, with the thought of them being typical and useless.
This, however, felt different. She had this feeling that once she opened the small box, something will change her. For the good or bad, she didn't want to find out. But she had to because her curiosity was getting the better of her.
Her thin fingers hooked onto the 'ears' of the red ribbon tied neatly on the box and gently pulled them apart. The silk came apart slowly and soon fell onto her lap , next to the box delicately.
Helena took the lacy lid off the box and peeked at the contents inside. Her heartbeat quickened as the lid slowly came off. She flung it to the other side of her bedroom when she saw what was inside, a letter. It was neatly folded into a tiny square. She took it out slowly, almost afraid to break it.
Her finger unfolded the paper and read the letter. Green orbs scanned the letter slowly, afraid to miss out on any word.
"Helena Doulgas,
This is Hayate. By the time you get this letter, I might already be in Japan. I'm sorry that I was so rude to you that night. I was mad at my sisters for dragging me to France just to see you. The outburst, I didn't mean it. We both know this is not how I act usually but I think you deserve this apology. So I'm really sorry. "
Then a bunch of letters with strokes through them came up.
"Sorry about above. Kasumi thought it would be funny to add something to this letter. But some of it are true. I do love you and not as a friend nor workmates. I love you like a lover. I understand if you reject me but for the sake of Kasumi, could you please pretend to accept this confession? I sometimes question her sanity. That is all I have to say.
-Hayate
P.S: There is a silver crystal necklace at the bottom of the box. It is a gift for you"
Baby pink lips curved into a smile at the last few sentences. Curious about the necklace though, she looked into the box one more time. There laid the most beautiful necklace she had ever laid eyes on.
The string was thin and shone in the sunlight peeking through the windows. On the middle was a crystal with three smaller ones on each side. All in all, it looked as though it was a gift from the heavens. Something that only she could get her hands on.
She placed the necklace on her neck and looked at herself in the mirror. Her hands rose up to the necklace and slowly touched it. A light smile danced on her lips as the sun shone on her.
"Hayate, I want you to know, I love you too."
Helena then started to write her own letter to reply to Hayate's.
A/N: I feel bad for posting my V-Day story so think of this as my late present to you~ Sorry for this late story!
