Hi,
It's Eryn Michelle and I am back again. I have a couple ficlets lined up and just need to type them so I can post.
"The future is only as clear as the Inner eye that perceives it," the Divination Professor told them. "Now pair up with the person of opposite gender closest to you."
Lily laughed and James groaned. "There is only four of us here and we are all ready paired up," he complained. "Sometimes I think her Inner eye clouds up the outer two."
Lily snorted, "You mean blinds them," she whispered.
"Mr. Potter and Ms. Evans, I assure you that my Inner eye has no affect on my hearing whatsoever. Look in the crystal ball, maybe you can see what you will have to do for detention."
Lily peered intently into the crystal ball. "What is this? Why, I think that is us, running away from an old hag who assigned us detention…"
The professor missed what Lily said, but scolded them for laughing and told them to be serious about what the fates allow them to see.
"Seriously…" Lily rolled her eyes. "James? We both havequite wonderfulDivination talents. Let's make at least one prediction. I don't feel like failing this class today."
James nodded and leaned down so his nose was almost touching the crystal. He looked up at Lily's distorted figure behind the glass and smirked. "What about tomorrow?"
James was surprised as the crystal ball seemed to respond to his question and a scene came into view. After a few minutes James looked a little confused, but quickly masked it and smiled at Lily.
"Tomorrow will be perfectly sunny," he told her.
"Are you nuts?" she replied, "There is a thunderstorm going on right now."
James only responded by shrugging, "Look for your self."
Lily looked into the crystal ball for a few seconds while her brow crinkled. She smoothed it out and forced a smile.
"Perfectly sunny. Want to go swimming tomorrow?" It was then that there eyes met and they both knew they were lying about what was seen in the crystal ball.
They were saved by the professor dismissing the class.
Lily and James were laughing and joking down the hallway after running away from Filch so they wouldn't have to go to Detention. As they walked back to the Head Common room, they could feel their fingers brush. Suddenly James grasped her hand, effectively stopping them.
"Hey Lily?" he asked, and Lily knew he was going to bring up the vision in Divination class. "If-…" he paused, unsure. "If or when I ask you out tomorrow…" he trailed off, unconsciously intertwining his fingers with Lily's.
"Would you really say yes?" he finally asked.
"James…" she paused, contemplating, and looked through the window to the storm outside. "If we go swimming tomorrow, I will say Yes." She squeezed his hand.
"I will see you later, James," she told him, unlacing their fingers.
She walked down the hallway while James stared after. He walked over and sat on the windowsill, staring out into the torrential rain.
That night they both fell asleep, praying for sunshine the next day.
This was really short, but I love it so much. If I get a lot of reviews I may put up a short sequel that I already have in mind tomorrow. That being said, go review!
