Happy

"I don't understand why you're not even attempting to date!" Hermione grumbled, wrapping her hands around her drink.

Harry rolled his eyes. "I don't understand why you seem to think I need a partner to be happy," he countered. "I'm not averse to love, Hermione, I just don't see that I need to find it immediately. You realise that we're not ancient, don't you?"

"Of course I do. I just... With Ron and I, and Ginny and Neville, and Dean and -"

"I get it."

"I just want you to find the same happiness that we all have. Is that so wrong?"

Harry sighed, draining his drink. "Of course it isn't. Just please remember that being single isn't an illness, okay? I'm happy, Hermione, and when love comes along, I'll still be happy."

She nodded, her eyes downcast. Harry smiled, rubbing her hand gently. "Honestly, Hermione. I'm good."

"Oi! Stop pawing my wife!"

Harry laughed at the red head, rolling his eyes when Ron shook his fist at him.

"Alright mate?"

Nodding, Ron slurped the head off his beer.

"I'm grand now I'm outta work," Ron replied happily. "You'll never know how smart it was when you decided against being an Auror."

Harry grinned. "Oh, I'm aware how smart it was. Besides, I get paid to play my favourite sport all day, what could be better?"

"Yeah, yeah," Ron muttered. Then he brightened. "We'll be at the match this weekend, all of us. Even George is coming along."

"I know, I bribed him," Harry replied, taking a drink. "He'll be my plus one for the team party after."

"But...But...But..."

"He need's to get out, and what better way to do it than partying with his favourite quidditch team," Harry said quietly. "Besides, it's not like his presence is a hardship. I enjoy his company."

"Only cause he's as single as you are, with about as much of a plan to change that as you do."

Harry shook his head, smiling indulgently. "Not you as well!"

"What?"

"I've already had the lecture, thanks very much. I don't need another one."

Ron shrugged. "You know mum's only gonna keep getting on your case about it."

Harry nodded with a sigh. "I know. But... I have friends that make me happy. I have a family that makes me happy. I have a job that makes me happy. Love... it's welcome but it's not necessary, you know? It'll happen when it happens. Until then..."

"Until then, you're still happy."

Harry smiled, glad that someone understood. "Until then, I'm still happy."
