Hey Everybody! I wanted to thank everyone who read and reviewed Ion Nin and Ion Nin 2. I appreciate so much. There is a Ion Nin 3 in the works! This story is actually the first LOTR story I wrote, and I am not very satisfied with it...But here it is anyway. it would come before the Ion Nin stories.

I do not own any rights to LOTR. this just for fun :)

For Father

Many people of Rivendell said that the two raven haired elves had some form of "twin sense" a kind of psychic bond only twins, and Elven twins at that, could share. But today it was not some form of psyche that drew Elladan to the north wing and the northern most Balcony of the last Homely House.

Elladan knew his brother.

And as he knew he would, he found Elrohir cross legged on the floor leaning on the bench behind him.

Most days would have their mother in the seat above, her hand absent mindedly stroking her son's hair. They both had loved relaxing here and enjoying the view of the vale.

But not today. Or any day to come for their mother lay in her bedchambers awaiting her journey to the gray havens the very next day. From there she would sale to Valinor to find healing.

Elladan slid silently to the floor beside his brother. They were here to make a decision – stay in Middle Earth with their father or go west with their mother. They would make the choice together like they did everything… right?

As much as Elladan tried to tell himself that was true, he knew it was not. He had already made his decision. He feared Elrohir had as well.

Elladan would not, could not, leave. Not for his mother, not even for Elrohir. Maybe… because of Elrohir he had to stay. He would not cause father the pain of losing all of them. For surely Arwen, child that she was would not leave her mother's side. She had not left her room since their mother's decision had been announced.

Elrohir stirred and turned toward his brother. Elladan noted the dried tear tracks on his face. When had the world turned up-side down?

"I am sorry, El. I cannot do it."

Elladan's heart clenched. Was he losing his brother, his friend, his twin?

"We spent all that time trying to find mother just to lose her. I cannot begin to understand why she wants to leave us. Father does not either. He does not understand why he cannot heal her. He blames himself. Do you not see, Elladan? If we go as well… Father would never recover. I cannot leave him."

Elladan stared at his brother at a loss for words.

"El, please say something?"

"I thought you wanted to go."

"I am so sorry; I know you thought I would come with you, but…"

"NO, I could not leave Ada like that, but I thought you were going to leave me."

Realization over came the twins. In relief they pulled each other into a hug. They were agreed. Together.

Alone in her room, Arwen silently wiped the tears from her eyes. Crying was not going to help. It was just childish she told herself. She had made her choice. It might not be what she wanted, but she would live with it. She gazed tenderly at the small sketch in her hand before replacing the picture of her father and brothers on her desk.

Drying the last sign of tears from her face, She went for the door in search of her brothers. She would say goodbye. Somebody had to stay with Father, and she knew it would not be them.

Though he was ever grateful his children stayed, Elrond never knew it was their love for him, which compelled each of his children to stay. Neither the twins nor Arwen ever regretted their decision.
