Unforgettable
An arrow embedded now drowning in red
Wound, tremor, defenseless in a blood bath
First kill an execution of revenge
Last request a lullaby and melody
Lifeline gone while eyes flutter shut
Eerily, Mockingjays repeat song of injustice, an Anthem and cannon release her
The Capitol, they do not own me
Not a piece in their games
Wildflowers decorate her and cover tears, to shame them
Weaving hair, wreathing face, could be asleep in a meadow, under a willow
Here it is safe, here it is warm, and here she is gone
Silver parachute of District 11 tastes of home then rule change and two may live
Signal Fire, I'm waiting right here
Must avenge, must make unforgettable
Come and get me, you scared?
Disclaimer: The Hunger Games Trilogy belongs to Suzanne Collins, as well as the characters, plot, and phrases used in this poem.
This was an assignment for my Language Arts class.
The required summer reading book was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
My teacher assigned a chapter to a group of 2 or 3 students and we had to skim through the chapter (ours was Chapter 18, which I had hoped for) to pick out key words and strong phrases.
For the independent assignment we had to arrange the words we picked out into a poem to turn in.
The poem had to be between 10-15 lines.
