Ok this is part of my best friend's alternate ending to, 'Hearts of Iron" by Kathleen Benner Du. (we will just call my friend Hawkstrom) Editted by Pinetail (Me)

" OK Jesse, you need to make a choice. stay here and marry

me or go quickly." I said to him gently. He looked at me in a panic.

" But..." he said. He then took a step closer and held me to him. Then

something came over him and he released me and murmured, "I love you." He took my

hand. That was it he said he loved me, I knew I could not make him chose between

the life he wanted and the girl he loved.

"I'm going with you." I said firmly my eyes transfixed with the way his

shirt caller was perfectly folded. He always was very neat for some of the

things he has done.

" But you can't go you love it here. I can't take you away from this

mountain." he said sadly and looked at his feet. I grabbed his other hand.

" But I love you more." I stuttered " Now, lets go quickly." I said

redeeming myself. I pulled him toward the door. But he stopped suddenly and

wiped me around gently, but firmly and importantly, and then kissed me, I

smiled. We ran out the door down the steps and off the porch. I started toward

the main road but Jesse stopped and pulled me toward the woods. We slid under the

thick brush and ran deeper, and deeper.

I tripped over a high root, but Jesse pulled me up by my upper arm. We

got to the edge of the woods by a farm and saw Peter Jackson, the man my father

had asked, with out my permission, to call on me. He was kissing Katy Jones,

Jesse's brother's ex-fiancé, by the edge of the barn.

"Well, I otta', " Jesse said angrily, and started to walk out of our

hiding spot. I grabbed him by the shoulders and held tightly to the ground. "

You could wrestle a grizzly to the ground if you wanted to, Luce." He joked

after he calmed down. I tied hard not to laugh. Once again we were on our way.

We slipped around trees and got to the wagons. we found the wagon that that had

been originally used for food products to bring here but was now filled with

just hey. I climbed in after Jesse and sat in a corner next to him and we buried

ourselves in hey. After what seamed like 10 min. the men that came to trade on

the mountain started on.

The next thing I knew I was awakened by a bump in the road and found

myself up curled next to Jesse. My head was on his chest and he was stroking my

hair. I did not want the moment to end. I tried hard not to think of Papa but I

could not help it.

Finally I decided that I would write to him when we got to

where ever we were going. After I had sorted everything out I could finally fall

back asleep.

That was it. What do you think I should have Hawkstorm have them do next?
