(A/N): This is a little oneshot I've had sitting on my computer for quite a while.

It plays off of the similarities, the differences, the... everything, between Chihiro and Coraline.

So this shows those similarities, in a simple form, down to the deepest level, these are similarities and differences.

Surprisingly, you could apply this to almost any story, in a low, low form. It could cross over with almost every archive on .

Because, secretly?

All I'm doing is cutting plot down to the bone.

Once upon a time, we were the best of friends.

But as time went on, we grew apart, back to our cultures, back to our places, back to our own worlds.

Eventually, we only recognized each other by face, not name, not sight, not sound.

And when it came time to go, we marched out together, even though we didn't know each other at all.

But when we came back...

We knew...

...

We knew we were the same, deep down.

We knew we were the same person.

We knew we were different.

...

We knew that we saw the world different ways, because of different cultures, different places, different situations.

We knew that in the end, both of us had found love, but only one of us could keep it.

We knew that in the end, we would find each other, even though we did not know each other.

...

We knew that we would strive together.

We knew that we had both experienced love. We knew that one had a sick and twisted form of it, and the other had true and forbidden love.

We knew that we were almost trapped.

...

We knew our names.

We knew that names were important things, easily forgotten by a simple manipulation of the identity.

We knew that we almost lost them.

...

We knew that we could have been killed.

We knew that we would have had to stay forever...

We knew that we might die and never return...

...

We knew the secrets.

We knew the lies.

We knew that we had to escape, had to flee...

...

We knew they had been taken.

We knew we had to save them.

We knew that we had to stay, had to find out the truth.

...

We knew that we had to get out alive.

We knew we could find the way out.

We knew we would win.

...

We knew we were the same, deep down.

We knew we were the same person.

We knew we were different.

...

And?

...

We knew how our stories would end.

(A/N): In case if you didn't realize, this whole thing is in italics.

Why?

In my world, italics implies things are 'spiritual' or 'thoughts' or 'assorted paranormal things'.

And I think both of these characters have had enough of that, eh?

I write this in honor of no one in particular, but I would like to thank Niel Gaiman and Hayao Miyazaki for creating these worlds to jump back and forth between :)
