Torak and Renn
I looked upwards. All I could see was the blinding brightness of the sky.
"Torak?"
I swung around, too see Renn.
"Are you ok? You look a bit, um, hot and bothered........"
You fool, Torak! I thought. Blushing like an idiot right where she can see you!
"Um, Im fine. Just looking at the sky.....nice isnt it?" Good god, I was talking about the weather..........
She nodded, then blushed into a deep crimson.
"Yes. I'ts nice."
"Just like yo-" did I just say that?
"I'm just going hunting, Do you want to come? Wolf can come as well." Her voice went back to her usual brisk way.
"Umm..." I thought for a moment. " I can't. Sorry. I've got to fletch some arrows." I gestured to my shelter. Why couldnt I think of something cool to say?
My face flamed. I looked down at my feet.
Renn started to speak again. "Ok, just wanted to ask. See you later." and she turned back into the forest, her red hair shining in the sun.
Doesnt he like me? I thought. He acts as if he just wants to get away from me. Was it something I said? No. I go out of my way to be nice to Torak.
I paused. Checked whether I had my axe with me.
You idiot, Renn! Go back to camp to get it! You should NEVER go without your axe. Anything could happen.
I know, I thought.
I stumped around Torak's shelter, cursing myself. And I saw-
"Torak!"
Oh god.
STOP BLUSHING, FOOL!
"Um, hello!" I tried hard to stop myself scutteling away. My face was on fire.
"Heeellllooooo!" His voice wobbled. He covered his mouth and blushed.
Poor Torak. I wanted to hug him, but I didnt dare. He might've thought that I was a freak!
As I was wrestling with the temptation of grabbing his hand, I nearly missed one of his really nice wolf grins.
Then he gave me his axe and hurried away sharpish.
