You couldn't say that Pidge and Keith were close. Yes, they got along, complete each others pretty well etc. But they weren't close. They never hung out with each other, if someone else wasn't involved. They never talked to each other, if it wasn't on a mission.
Everytime Pidge walked by the training deck. Everytime Keith walked by Green's hangar. They never bothered checking on each other.
To the others, it was a miracle. Or perhaps a mistery, that they completed each other so well in battle.
They never hung out with each other. Because they didn't need to, to know that they always had the other by their side.
They never talked to each other. They didn't need to, to know what the other is thinking. They had other ways to communicate.
Pidge never bothered, to check on him in the training deck. She knew how it'd be. Him, training until he couldn't take a blow anymore.
Keith never bothered, to check on her in Green's hangar. It was always the same. Her, working on whatever project she was into, until she fell asleep, on Green's paw.
The others didn't understand. Couldn't. Maybe it was being the two arms ? But Hunk and Lance weren't like them. Maybe it was their social awkwardness? But that didn't made sense.

Those two were so different, but so similar.
And that's why they completed each other so well.
