Zuko sat quietly in his room. His hair dangled in his face, covering his swollen red eyes. A small book and pen lying on his side table showed evidence of recent use. The moonlight shined through the red curtains and gently caressed the windowsill. He walked over to the open door leading to the balcony, and leaned against the curved black iron bars. He stared up at the sky, gazing into the dark abyss that was speckled with twinkling lights. He thought he saw a glimpse of 'his' smile. The tears began again, hot and thick. He turned his face directly upward. He let out a loud scream, and then another. Then in one last breathe of energy he released a bolt of lightning from his mouth. The light it generated caused a dawn like appearance to be cast over the Fire Nation.

His Journal entry:

"I feel as if my life should end. I cried for the first time since my mother… I still think he is going to be there tomorrow when I wake up. Why did it happen to him? If I could go back I would change everything I said. Did the gods do this because it would make me a better person? My head feels like it is going to explode. My thoughts are rushing a mile a minute and I can't sort out what flashes through my mind. One minute I will be thinking about what I am doing, and then I will snap into this trance-like state. All I can think about is his smile, his face, his touch…I wan to die, but I know that my duty to him and to all the others this affected.

I guess writing down what happened will clear my conscience. This morning he was in one of his moods. I didn't want to deal with it. So, I told him off; I screamed, he screamed back. Was it wrong that I kept thinking about how wonderful the make-up sex was going to be? Just before I left he said, "Oh just leave! You don't love me anyway."

I turned to him and I said, "You are right, I don't love you," I slammed the door. I regretted it, but what was I supposed to do, run back in and apologize. All he would have done was bitched some more.

The day seemed to fly by. I finished up all of my work for the day. I figured I would stop by a shop near home and pick up a dozen or so fire-lilies.

He decided to take a walk along the beach. There were dozens of people out enjoying the bright sunshine. The tide was low and the sand was dry. There were about five men in dark red cloaks standing at the surrounding points of the beach. They belonged to a terrorist group that wants to overthrow me as Fire Lord.

When the wind died down and tide rushed out one last time; they began to shout things, then came the blood bath. They killed each and every person one by one.

I was only a block away. When I heard the first scream, I ran. But by the time I got there the only one left was him. I watched as a dart of fire tore through his left temple. His eyes glimmered and he said, "Forgiven."

I killed every one of those sick bastards, and I enjoyed it. I held him in my arms, and said, "Sleep forever in my arms sweet prince. I love you Sokka."
