AN: This story came about after watching the John Barrowman concert DVD at the weekend. I have a lyric quote from one of the songs at the start of this, and then a quote from a none-Barrowman song hidden near the end. I'll reveal the quotes and the songs at the end of this story.
I hope you like this story – the first song quote has been driving me mad all day, and I plan on writing another story using the entire song at a later date.

"My heart is too much in control. The lack of romance in my soul, will send you grey kid." Jack paused and laid one hand on Ianto's cheek before continuing. "So stay away kid." He said softly before walking past Ianto and out of his office, slowly descending the steps into the main area of the Hub.
"Bullshit." Ianto's voice rang out in the cavernous room, and the rest of the team looked up at him in surprise as Jack turned to face him. "You're just scared Jack, pure and simple. But do you know what? So am I."
"I can't say it back Ianto." Jack said gently.
"Yes you can. Its not that hard." Ianto replied.
"I can't say it. Not to you. Not to anyone. I just can't." Jack said his voice sombre.
"Why? Because you're immortal?" Ianto snapped. "That's not an excuse Jack."
"I lose everyone Ianto. Everyone I love. I can't risk that again." Jack tried to explain.
"So you won't let yourself fall in love because you're going to lose them? Welcome to reality Jack. We are all scared of losing the people we love. Even me, who is in love with a man who can't die. You can still leave me, and that terrifies me." Ianto's voice choked.
"I won't leave you." Jack protested.
"So love me." Ianto's voice was almost pleading.
"I can't." Jack replied.
"Yes you can." Ianto said softly. "You can, and I know you do. I know you love me Jack, I just need to hear you say it."
"I can't." Jack breathed.
"Tell me you don't love me then. Look me in the eyes and tell me you don't love me. Tell me that instead." Ianto offered.
Jack looked down at his feet. "I can't." He whispered.
Ianto walked cautiously forward from his place at Jack's office door and down the steps to where Jack was stood with the rest of the team watching on uncomfortably. Ianto reached out and placed a hand on either side of Jack's head and tipped his face up so they were looking into each other's eyes.
"Please Jack. For me. Please." Ianto pleaded.
Jack closed his eyes and took a steadying breath before opening them. "I love you Ianto." He murmured.
Ianto smiled as tears fell from his eyes. "I love you too." He said as he drew Jack close to him and held him tight.
"I don't want to lose you." Jack said softly as he held Ianto.
"I'll be here for as long as I can Jack. You're just going to have to love me whilst there's still time." Ianto murmured.
"I will. I always will." Jack replied.
