A/N: Challenge from Wishing-Fire. :) So excited to be writing fanfiction! For this I picked a character that I feel close to, and that I'm especially partial to: Lea! From birth 'til rebirth as a Nobody. Hopefully no spoilers, fingers crossed! Happy reading (and if you could drop a review, that would make me sooo happy! :3)

Their First Love

The small redhead bent over the poorly wrapped birthday package. In the dilapidated slum building, it had been hastily taped in toilet paper. He didn't mind, or care. In all likelihood, his father couldn't afford the nice wrapping paper the other kids had. Light filtered in through a grimy, half-broken window, making the dingy place look even worse. His pale, dirt-speckled fingers gripped at the wrapping.

"Go ahead, boy, open it!" a rough voice encouraged. "Ain't gon' bite'cha." The redhead didn't need any more prompting. The toilet paper was on the ground with the tape in a few seconds. He held in his hands a pair of decorated, black and red frisbees.

"Now you got somethin' to play with while your old man's at work, huh!" A large, calloused hand ruffled Lea's hair. "Don' break 'em, I ain't gettin' you another pair."

"Thanks Dad!" He clasped the frisbees tightly. They were beautiful; he was in puppy nine-year-old love. His father sat back and pointed a thick finger at him. Lea's large green eyes locked onto the older man.

"Don't-break-them," he enunciated slowly. "Son, I mean it." He made sure that he had his wild redhaired son's attention. "Got it memorized?"
