"This, this is it?" the teenager stuck her long neck out the window
as the jeep pulled slowly into the main drag of Star's Hollow.

"This is it, Brein. This is where I was born. This is where I was
raised. This is my home" she answered, slowing down even more in
front of the building that was falling apart, the sign that had
been tacked up swinging hap-hazardly."We used to eat there,
every single morning".

The teenager rolled her eyes, leaning back in the seat."This is
boring".

She smirked, speeding up a little as they raced past the place that
had come and gone as Taylor's ice cream shop, the book store. She stopped
the jeep near the middle of the town."Get out"

"M-ooommm!" Brein whined, swinging her dark brown hair over her shoulder.

"Just..come on" she grabbed her daughter's hand, pulling her towards
the middle of town square."Man, so many things happened right here. This
town, was..well. There was alot of things going on, and I cried alot when
I was your age, but.."

"You were happy to leave?" Brein muttered.

She nodded, stroking her daughter's bitter hand."I was, because of all the
things that happened here."

Brein stopped, watching her mother walk past her, heading towards
a small cluster of homes a few blocks away."Mom! Mom, wait up!"

It was a tall house, the trim all a bright white. Her mom stood in front of the
house, smiling at the beat up old car in the drive way, muttering something
about how tall the tree had grown.

"Who lived here?" Brein asked, tucking her hands into the pockets of her overalls.

"An old friend" her mom answered, waving at a figure in the window,"An old friend
who I didn't realize at the time, I'd end up depending on more than anyone I ever
knew."

"More than Dad?" Brein replied, biting her lip. She watched her mom just study
the house, and ran ahead, her long brown hair flying from behind her. Brein stood
on the doorstep, and knocked quietly.

"Brein! NO!" she yelled.

"Hello?" the man answered. Brein looked him up and down, his shaggy light brown hair,
the piercing green eyes."Wow, you're...."

Brein nodded."And you?"

He looked over at her mother, who looked down at the lawn, obviously ashamed."I'm an
old friend of your mother's, Brein".

The teenager shook her head, and ran from the porch, running down the street."Liars!
All of you are liars!"

Rory stood on the grass, watching her daughter dash down the street, long hair, long
legs flying from behind her. She looked back up at Dean, who was leaning against the doorjam.
"I'm sorry".

Dean shook his head,"She'll come back".

Rory nodded."How..have you been?"

He motioned her inside the house,"It's been way too long". Rory swallowed hard as he wrapped
his hand gently around her elbow, helping her up the steep porch.

"I'm sorry" she said quietly as Dean rested a hand on the small of her back.

"It's alright" he whispered."It's fine, Rory"
