It's pretty cool how an emotion can be conveyed through a smiley, displayed through an IM. So simple.
Yet, it could mean a lot.
It describes my best friends. We always smile a lot around each other and laugh.
We're happy.
There's also another reason behind this usage of said smiley for me.
You see, I always use a smiley when I talk to my best friend.
My best friend makes me smile.
Sure it doesn't sound like much, but to me, it's heavier than anything ever weighed upon me.
It's not just 'cause it's my best friend.
It's 'cause I'm in love.
It's a little bit crazy, but I can't help myself.
It's a little sad too, because everyday, I pray for the strength and courage to spill out my feelings.
I wish I could just say it all.
Each day, I tell myself, Today's the day. Today's when I'm going to do it.
My confidence builds as I log on.
My fingers itch.
I love you.
Not that hard, is it?
My confidence wavers as I see your name - It makes me weak in the knees, and I'm not even looking straight at you.
Don't you know what you do to me?
I pray, again for strength and bravery - Hey, what's the worse that could happen? I've got nothing to lose.
I pray harder, squeezing my eyes shut as your name taunts me, just sitting there - With it's smiley face at the end.
My prayers don't come true - They never do.
Because here I am, once again, looking at my keyboard blankly; wanting to type those three immortal words of truth.
I Love You.
But what comes out, is the typical -
Hey. :)
And once again, I just hope, that one day, I'll be able to tell you the truth.
But for now, I guess that smiley face will do just fine.
