Chapter 1-Nightmare
It was cold in my bed, even though it was spring. I usually shared this bed with my boyfriend of 2 years, L, but he was busy on a case in Japan. Rain dripped from the roof to the ground and you could hear the splash of water as it collided with the earth. My eyes started slipping out of consciousness when a quiet knock could be heard on my door and a boys face peeped through the door. "Amy, i'm scared" It was Near. He had angelic white hair and crystal white clothing. Near was holding an old bear in one hand and twirling his hair with his free one. "Of what, did you have a nightmare again?" He nodded as a single tear rolled down his cheek and landed on the bear. I gestured him to come in my bed and he scurried , I could here his breathing become light and sometime after I fell asleep as well.
I woke up later than normal(probably from studying to much). Near was sitting at the corner of the bed solving a rub-ix cube over and over again. He got one every christmas of Watari and one for his birthday of me. Every now and again he would get a jigsaw or wooded puzzle but rub-ix was his favourite. "Morning, Amy" Near said with a blank expression on his face as he solved the cube once more. "Morning. What time is it?" I looked out the curtain and could tell it was pretty late. " 11:43, don't worry you haven't missed much. We had pancakes for breakfast and L returned and Matt got isolation for smoking" He didn't take his eyes of the cube as he spoke. My eyes opened wide "wait, who returned? L! Where is he?" I could not believe he was home after his 10 month case. "well according to my calculations, if you stand still,"He started"He should be exactly 3.5 centimeters away from you if you turn 180 degrees." I turned and saw L asleep on his desk chair, sitting with his knees tucked into his chest and thumb in his mouth.
