Miracles

Prologue

"You have Breast Cancer."

Was what he said in a flat, phlegmatic voice. He held the clipboard in his arms, staring apathetically at the ginger haired woman sitting upon the greenish exam table. So very used to saying those words that it became impervious to him.

He calmly waited for her reaction, prepared for any sort of questions she had. But when it didn't come, he started to feel a bit confused. The woman sitting in the guest's chair next to the exam table started to cry, her back hunched over as her sobs were growing louder and grotesque as her expression would have been if her hands weren't shielding her face.

But as for the young woman sitting on the exam table, her expression was blank. She allowed her gaze to be fixed on the white marble floors under her hanging feet. Her lips in a flat line while her hands in the form of fists remained glued to her lap.

"Do you have any questions...?" Was something he never asked before and this made her hazel eyes look up at the doctor. She replied with a gentle nod before speaking.

"When can the treatment start?" She spoke softly, her voice almost inaudible. Was that a crack he heard in it?

But he didn't linger on it for long.

"I'm afraid..." He paused; a lump growing in his throat prevented him from continuing. He didn't know what was holding himself back. He guessed that this was something he can never get used to, that it's still something that squeezed his heart and left him breathless. "It's too late. The cancer has spread too far. At the rate that it is going, I would say... That you only have six months left to live."

Once he stopped speaking, the older woman's wails grew louder as she began begging-pleading for help from God, denying the doctor's words and straying away from the truth. She held the sides of her head and leaned forward against the chair, her tears dripping upon the floor.

The young woman glanced at her mother before her eyes returned to the doctor's and for once he felt guilty, his mouth growing dry as he regretted the words that had left his lips. The woman's cries were booming in his right ear, a piercing pain developing in his heart as he stared back at the eyes of the ginger haired woman.

Fear.

Fear in those hazel eyes of her.

He almost averted his gaze away from her until her eyes closed for a moment before they reopened again. She took a deep breath as a dejected smile grew on her lips, her voice coming out soft and delicate:

"Okay."

A/C: Miracles. It has to do with Cancer and the struggles of what Petra and Levi goes through. This fanfic takes place in the future so it's a little futuristic, just a tiny bit.

In this fic, they found the cure to Cancer already but if found too late, then there's nothing that they can do about it. In the next chapter, it explains what they do with them next. Well, I hoped you enjoy the prologue and will stick around for the next chapter! Thank you!
