I bought a book that had a comic in it that gave me the idea for this fic.
"So we can't feel because we don't have hearts," Roxas said as he and axel sat on the edge of the clock tower.
He had been thinking about this for sometime and Axel was so use to this kind of statement.
"Yeah," he replied not bothering to look at the other nobody next to him.
Birds flew past and Roxas continued to speak.
"And because we can't feel we can't love. But what if love wasn't a feeling?"
The red head turned then giving the blond boy an odd look.
"What do you mean?"
Roxas turned toward Axel looking him in the eyes. The pyro could see how Roxas was debating with himself over weather his friend would understand or not. Most of the time axel looked to be paying little attention to him when he talked about hearts and nobodies. Roxas didn't like that they were considered so different from others. He touched his chest were his heart should be.
"I mean… what if love was more than a feeling? What if love was so strong that maybe…?" Here he faltered trying to think of the right way to say what he was thinking. "Maybe it was part of your entire being."
He sounded desperate as he gathered his thoughts. Watching the way Roxas fought so hard to get this out but still Axel didn't seem to understand. The wind brushed his face and the red head want to reach out and touch that tortured face. He wanted to understand.
"But Roxas…"
"Look, Axel aren't we beings? We live, we breathe, we think so why not love?"
"Because we're nobodies. That is what we are." He made it sound so finale, as if this fact was what Roxas was missing all a long.
"If we can learn to talk, to think, to fight, can't we learn to love?" He turned to him and raised a brow as Roxas continued to speak. "Axel, with enough practice, don't you think…?" He stopped and regarded axel with bright blue eyes that begged him to see his reasoning.
"And how do you practice love?" he sighed looking away from the younger boy.
"Like this…" And Roxas pulled Axel close placing his lips over the others. The older male responded by wrapping his arm around the blonde's waist and pulling them closer together.
Roxas pulled away panting and smiled at him. "Axel, I think I felt something," he whispered only a breath away from his lips.
"Heh, I think we need more practice."
