Sea Dragon

Scales of sapphire, amethyst, emerald and silver

Gliding like the currents themselves

Glistening horns of wisdom and purity

Guarding the underworld of heavenly aqua

Glowing eyes of jade

Encompassing the circle of light

Claws which hold the rocks of life

And protect the coral reefs

Of fire and ice

Your existence is true

The sea turns red

Red tide—the sea dragon has killed again

Now do not confuse this monster

With Nessie of the Loch

For she is too is of another world

Although compared to the sea dragon

She is of a gentler breed

And stands like a smooth stone

Compared to the jagged cliffs that the sea beats upon

Nessie stays in the bay

Rocking in the soothing tide

The sea dragon stalks the open waters

Prowling for ships that stray off course

The Bermuda Triangle

Is its breeding ground

Its wings capture the periwinkle winds

And they snatch planes from the misty blankets

Like a dragonfly that drowns in water

Coiling their snake tails around boats

Flipping them like rocks

Which tumble effortlessly down a steep cliff
