A/n: I'm in a drabble-y mood, so I wrote this. I was listening to "Brick by Boring Brick" by Paramore, so it influenced this but this is not a songfic.

I find I get the most fanfic ideas from Ryou. It makes it seem like he's one of the only characters I like, despite the fact that I like most of them! He's about 8 or 9 in this too.

Edit: fixed some of my mistakes. Thank you juk. in. adagio, for pointing them out!

Well you built up a world of magic/Because your real life is tragic -Brick by Boring Brick by Paramore

Ryou sniffed, trying to keep his nose from running. It was feeble attempt, as it kept dripping. Tears streaked down his face, warm and salty. Just like how Amane liked most cooking...

The child began to sob, trying not remind himself that she was gone... they were both gone...

His father and his Aunt were talking down the hall. They didn't try to comfort him. Did they even care? They just left him in his room, all alone. His room... No , it wasn't his room! It was their room, the twins' room!

His sobbing worsened, causing his shoulders to shake.

Ryou crawled across the floor, heading towards a low table. He didn't bother even getting up.

On the table were several figurines. He started to set they up, making his own fantasy world. A world where he had lots of friends and nobody ever died! Any evil could be redeemed. And there was light everywhere.

Soon, 'White Magician Ryou' was rescuing 'Princess Amane' and 'Queen Manami' from The Shinigami. A ghost of a smile appeared on the child's face. The tears dried as he continued playing in his world of magic.

The Spirit of the Ring watched Ryou from the doorway. He was invisible to all, except the young mortal. Such an odd host he had. Perhaps he would be able to use this to his advantage. And hopefully this would help build the child a backbone. The spirit smirked. But for now, though, he'd leave the child alone.

He knew quite well how bad it was to lose a loved one, more then anybody else...
