Ed lay in Al's arms, his life literally dripping from his body. The bullet had gone clear through Ed's chest, and the wound wouldn't stop bleeding.
"Al...Alphonse" Ed's voice was hoarse and low, he was losing consciousness rapidly. "Alphonse...Al"
"Brother..Oh GOD PLEASE! BROTHER STAY WITH ME" Al held Ed in his arms, this cant be happening he thought. Not like this, it can't end like this. He could hear his voice echo in the hollow space inside the armor and the fast hoarse breathing from his brother.
"Alpho...Al..phon.." Al could see the desperation in Ed's eyes, and he knew there was nothing he could do.
"Quiet brother, you'll be okay, you'll see" Al could hear an ambulance off in the distance, someone must have seen what happened and called them. "You'll be fine, you'll...see"
What would he do without Ed? At first Al thought of chasing down the thug that did this and do horrible things to him, make him feel the pain Ed was feeling right now. That didn't matter though, without Ed, Al had nothing to live for. The irony of it all, Al thought, they had been in situations a hundred times more dangerous. But a simple purse snatcher was able to bring the famed fullmetal Alchmist down. If Al had a body at the time he knew he would be weeping uncontrollably, but all he could do was hold Ed closer because no matter what, Al knew the ambulance wouldn't reach them in time.
"Al...Alphonse" Ed knew what was happening just as well as Al did, he knew this was the last time he would speak to his only brother. "Alphonse...I'm...I'm sorry..Al" tears ran down Ed's cheeks as he took one last violent breath, and at those last words, the Fullmetal Alchemist, was dead.
"BROTHER? BROTHER!" Al shook Eds lifeless body, staring into Ed's eyes as the life that lit them so brightly faded away. "BROTHER...OH GOD PLEASE...DON'T LEAVE ME...DON'T GO!"
Al was totally alone, in some ally holding the body of his dead brother. The silence was deafening. After a long while of contemplating what to do, Al finally came to a conclusion.
"We promised we would be there for each other brother, so where ever you go...I go." Al now knew what he had to do, what other choice was there? Al slowly removed the helmet to his armor and placed his thumb on the seal.
"I'm coming brother, where ever you are" And at these words Al looked upon his brother for the last time, and scraped off the seal.
When the ambulance finally arrived, the scene was thoroughly confusing. A dead teenager in the arms of an empty suit of armor made no sense to the paramedics, but to Roy Mustang it couldn't have been clearer as to what happened.
