Aderyn
Okay, this is a one- shot for Haylie, a main character in a future story of mine. Haylie is a Hunter of Artemis, and loses her best friend, Aderyn, to Geyron.
Haylie di Angelo.
Hunter of Artemis. Black hair. Grey eyes. Pale skin. Daughter of Nico di Angelo, son of Hades, and Emily Emmbree, daughter of Athena.
Haylie clung quietly to a tree, an arrow knocked into her bow. Lady Artemis had heard a sound, and everyone had separated and hid. Then, they saw him, Geyron, the three chest-ed… thing.
"Open fire." Was all the goddess had said before 12 arrows flew down, each hitting it own mark. But not before Geyron shot out nets from an arrow, capturing three girls.
"Elphie! Aderyn! Avery!" The nine remaining Hunters tried to make a grab for the 3 girls, but they disappeared in a puff of smoke. Harmony, Haylie, Avril, Maria, Gabrielle, Kcarter, Galadriel, Tyler, and AJ, with mournful faces, walked back to camp, each devising a plan to find the missing girls.
Haylie felt a piece of herself remove itself. Aderyn was gone. It was too much to handle.
She had been as free as a bird, like her name sake, but now she was gone.
Left.
Banished.
Swept from the sky.
Never to fly again.
A passing breeze.
Aderyn.
Her best friend.
Aderyn.
It was too much to take. It was too much for the everlasting 9 year old. She let out a mournful cry, falling to her knees.
Defeated.
Gone.
Aderyn.
Wings broken.
Aderyn.
Her feathers, being pulled off, one by one.
Aderyn.
Why?
Why did Aderyn leave her?
Why did she take having a best friend for granted?
Aderyn.
She never said good- bye.
Aderyn.
She never apologized.
Aderyn.
Why did she blow up?
Aderyn.
And now, Aderyn was gone.
Forever.
Aderyn.
Her beautiful Welsh friend.
'Aderyn didn't deserve this.' Haylie thought. 'Why didn't he take me.' But then, it dawned on her. Aderyn was bait. He didn't want Nico di Angelo, Haylie's father after him. He took Aderyn as bait. He took the others to cover it up. He wanted to do something with. Haylie's eye twitched. She slowly stood up, murder in her eyes.
"I'll get you, Geyron, I will. You'll wish you never came back up from the Underworld. You'll wish you weren't created. Because nobody," she murmured, a fierce look in her eyes, "Nobody messes with my sister. No. You'll regret this. I'll get you, I swear on the River Styx."
Gone.
Aderyn.
Haylie's mind seemed to leave her, leaving her in shambles. Haylie lost it, she let the tears out, letting unconsciousness take her away.

Yes, if you're wondering, the name 'Aderyn' originates from Welsh, and is translated in to 'bird' in English.
