During the train travel to Hogwarts Sirius had had arranged his raven hair artfully so that it covered one half of his face. It wasn't thought of as particularly special by his companions, Sirius always tried new arrangements with his longer hair.

Once he had braided it and got away with it. Another time he'd put in up with an artistic touch, using a coloured clem, he'd gotten several admiring gazes from his fellow students... even McGonnacle seemed to approve.

Yet somehow, yes somehow Remus felt this particular hairstyle was different. He hadn't figured out why until they reached their dormitories.

As they switched clothing to get more comfortable, Remus couldn't help but noticing the massive bruise on Sirius pale abdomen. He took a quick breath in surprise. The fresh scars marring the alabaster skin had also gotten to the attention of his fellow marauders who turned around at Remus gasp.

"PADFOOT!! Where did you get those horrid bruises?" James exclaimed concerned, his finger pointing at the injuries.

"Oh, er..." Sirius said somewhat surprised and looked down as if noticing them for the first time. "Ah, father decided he was in the mood to give me an 'all round' " the grey-eyed youth shrugged carelessly.

"I do hope you're not serious" James exclaimed in horror.

"Sorry to disappoint you mate, I am Sirius, ever since the day I was born... and even well before." Sirius replied happily with a broad grin on his face.

"Si-" James wanted to say something but for once a curious Peter cut him off.

"Your parents decided on your name a long time before your birth then, why?" Peter asked, not understanding the reasoning behind that.

"Ah that's the story," Sirius said dramatically, "They picked this awesome name on my grandfather's wish, not that I've seen a lot of him." Sirius muttered.

"Why's that?" asked James. He , despite himself, had gotten interested in the story. Remus and Peter's inquisitive looks asked for an explanation as well.

"He died shortly after I was born... NO!" Sirius held up his hands in a mock act of innocence, "He did not die because of me. He just was a sickly old man at that time and my parents decided to honour his last wishes- resulting in naming me... or maybe because of the monetary advantage they'd receive for doing so." A bitter smile grace Sirius lips after having said that...

"Luckily I'm rather fond of the name." Sirius said with a broad grin.

Remus, silent Remus, advanced on Padfoot and tenderly brushed away the ebony locks from Sirius' face to reveal another dark bruise, this time on his left cheek.

Sirius almost started but managed to hold himself in check.

"Bot now truly Padfoot. Where did you get all those awful bruises from?" Remus asked softly.

"Ow come on Moony, you shouldn't worry so much!" Sirius said and threw an arm over Remus' shoulder, "They're the results from my tumbling against a rather expensive vase after tripping over a quaffle on the floor...the bloody thing crashed to the floor and took me with it." Sirius explained and smiled sheepishly.

He didn't tell them everything.

Oh yes, he did break the vase,

his father hadn't been happy with that.
