Champion of Kanto, Team Rocket destroyed,
But still I feel as if something isn't filling the void.
Left Pallet Town with the mind of a child,
Unaware of the dangers I'd face in the wild.
Given only one Pokemon who was a little bit wary,
Who eventually realized that I wasn't that scary.
The first gym we encountered was a little bit rough,
But that's when I learned that he was more than just fluff.
Pikachu's attacks, while weak and uneffective,
Eventually caused us to reach our objective.
And with the badge glistening in the sparkling sun,
I looked down at my partner, glad that we had won.
Charging through Kanto with high hopes and dreams,
I knew that my Pokemon and I made the perfect team.
Pikachu, Venusaur, Blastoise, Charizard,
Lapras, and Snorlax, who always hit hard.
We finally made it to the Pokemon League,
After fighting through trainers and battle fatigue.
I knew in that moment, and I knew they all did too,
That the little boy named Red knew just what to do.
I had grown up, suffered hardships, gained friends,
And my team had been there, and will be till the end.
But what was this feeling locked up inside?
It seemed my whole journey was just an easy glide.
Every trainer I battled, every gym leader I faced,
Was taken down easily in a very quick pace.
I needed someone strong and powerful like me,
Who trusted his team and thought about their safety.
But with my business done in Kanto and nothing more for me to do,
I climbed up Mount Silver where a snowstorm always brewed.
The challenger would give me a battle to remember,
And make my heart and soul burn like ember.
I don't know how long I waited up there,
But the summit and the snow were almost too much to bear.
But one day he came and looked me straight in the eye,
And the feeling I got made me want to fly.
This was a trainer who would defeat me,
And I knew all my Pokemon had to agree.
But I wouldn't go easy, not with this fight,
We were both very powerful on this battlefield of white.
And before I knew it, my team had fainted,
But my self-esteem would never be tainted.
His vision was blocked as the blizzard wind stirred,
And my team and I passed on without another word.
