"...they held a kitten on each paw. It's obvious what the sign meant, Flowerstar. One of them is destined to be the greatest of leaders, and the other to be the worst of rogues."

The ginger and white she-cat stared at her Medicine cat in dismay. It was such a dark, absolute prophecy for kits so young. They hadn't even opened their eyes yet. She had never known Redscar to guide her wrong, though, and part of her didn't dare to contradict Starclan.

"But Ripplekit and Snowkit have only just been born, how can Starclan see their destinies so clearly already?" She meowed, her voice thick with worry.

"Some cats are more easily read than others." Was Redscar's response.

Flowerstar glanced over to the nursery and pricked her ears, listening to the quiet mewling coming from inside. Fallenhawk was so happy to have had an easy birth, and taking care of her dead mates kits would ease her grief, but now happiness that the clan felt over Shadowclan's newest members would be squashed. Redscar seemed to guess what she was thinking and immediately growled.

"You musn't tell her. Fallenhawk has had much grief these past few moons, don't spoil her happiness."

Flowerstar turned sharply to Redscar and narrowed her eyes. It wasn't like him to keep secrets like this for the sake of one cats feelings.

"You can't hide this from her, Redscar. She may be your sister, but you have to tell her, even if it breaks her heart."

"No! Knowing will make no difference, their destinies are set in stone. Signs aren't for idle ears either, so it's best for just the two of us to watch them. Eventually one kit will start to show signs of being the rogue one, and then we will deal with them."

Redscar was adamant with his plan, and his tail lashed wildly. Flowerstar realized she wouldn't be able to convince him of anything at this point and that perhaps he was right. Fallenhawk would grow strong again while taking care of her kits and knowing of this prophecy would only crush her further. But won't it hurt her more when one of her precious children betrays their clan? The new leader wondered in dismay.

"Okay, Redscar, we won't say anything for now, but I intend to tell Fallenhawk if things get bad. They're her kits and she has a right to know."

The medicine cat only nodded, happy that he had one the argument this time. He got up and padded back to his den, no doubt to ponder more signs about his kin. Flowerstar turned her attention back to the nursery and worried for the rest of the night. Somewhere in there, among the moss and resting bodies, a killer was sleeping soundly.

AN: I've honestly always thought Snowtuft was an interesting character. He was a member of the Dark Forest, but he seemed kind of whiny and weak compared to the rest of them, and if I remember correctly he was being taught how to kill the first time we saw him, right? Which means he was there for awhile, but he hadn't killed to be sent there. I got to thinking, what could he have possibly done to go straight to the Dark Forest then?, and this idea was born. Reviews are greatly appreciated, and might encourage me to get another chapter up tommorrow ;)
