Overhearing

'Alice', he said in the lowest tone of voice he was able to use. Didn't he realize even Bella could hear us now she was changed? 'Alice', he insisted. 'Stop visualizing that'

'I can't help', I smiled. It was mostly true. It was difficult to avoid certain visions and even more difficult was to just let the little occasions I had to bother him past. It could be so funny some times. At least funny for me. Edward growled. I kept on enjoying the view. Bella and him kissing passionately while little Nessie slept in her bed, unaware of what was happening next-door. It was not that I didn't do the same with Jazz, nor that I really liked watching them do so. I preferred living those sort of… experiences on my own skin. But having Edward dedicating me his constant 'I'm-going-to-kill-you-whenever-we-are-alone' glares while Bella tried to feed Nessie with some mashed potatoes –and the little girl kept on moving her head so the spoon never got to her mouth- and Jazz and Emmett played with some play station game on the TV was rather amusing and distracting.

'You do the same when people remember', I reminded him after a while.

'At least I try not to', he argued

'That's exactly what I'm doing', I replied innocently. 'C'mon, Edward, I'm bored'

'Why don't you take Jasper to your room and get distracted?'

'Coz you'd listen!'

That was too much for poor Edward. He stood up and went outside the house, all the family looking at him like he had gotten mad or something. But even there, Edward couldn't escape my thoughts. Instantly, Bella knew. She always did. So she took little Nessie with one arm and the smashed potatoes with the other and gave the whole thing to me before going outside with poor Edward. Through the window we all could see them embracing into a kiss.

'You see? I'm a good person, after all. I just made things start before expected, isn't it, little thing?' I smiled to Nessie and she smiled back clapping her hands. But she clapped too strong and her body moved like dancing. In a sudden, the dish on my lap tipped over and I couldn't stop it before it widely spread along my new silky dress.

'You really can't help', said Jasper in a surprised tone. 'You always end up covered with dirt before the day is over these days. You know, Alice, I'll start getting worried about your reflexes if this doesn't change soon enough to leave some of your new dresses not too damaged'. Everyone in the room laughed, even Nessie, who now was drawing some flowers and hearts through the smashed potatoes on my chest. Why hadn't I seen that? Perhaps I was too much focused on Edward and Bella. Perhaps I should look after myself a little bit more, as none there looked like doing so. What a mess. Finally Rosalie, who had been doing whatever in her room, remembered I existed and came to save me from Nessie. I escaped from the dirty monster and entered my room. While I started wandering inside my dressing room, Jasper entered. He came to me and smiled before turning me around and unfastening my dress. I smiled for myself and then swallowed. I didn't need to look at the future to know what would come next. And I was sure Edward would be thoroughly listening this time.
