Part One

Part One

This day began like any other. Edward came over (officially) before Charlie left, and I ate my normal breakfast of cereal as Edward looked on in disgust and amusement. Nothing was really out of the ordinary. That is, until I saw an envelope on the counter -with no return address- with my name on it.

"Dad?"

"Yeah Bells?" Charlie called from the living room.

"Who's this letter from?" I was lost and confused as to who would send me a letter. Anything from Renee and graduation had been over for weeks.

"I'm not exactly sure, but I talked to Renee the other day, and she said something about a great aunt Edma or Eddie… something like that." He came from the living room looking just as befuddled as I was.

"Don't you mean Addie? I've never met her, but she always used to send Mom and I presents on Christmas and our birthdays. I haven't heard from her in years"

Someone touched my shoulder from behind. It was as if Edward was just reminding me he was there. If I was being honest, I hadn't noticed his presence; he was being so silent.

Bracing myself for the smell that was Aunt Addie's gifts, I opened the envelope without further ado.

Edward's eyes grew big before he covered his expression with his unreadable mask. If my idea was like his, he was thinking that this was either a joke or death wish. Aunt Addie had sent me a voucher for free skydiving lessons! It was absurd!

Charlie left without another word. No sooner than the door clicked, I heard his booming laughter. If I wasn't so horrified, I would have joined in. I heard the cruiser leave the driveway.

"NO WAY are you using those." Edward declared, his eyes dark, "You'd kill yourself-twice with your luck. There is no way you are JUMPING out of a PLANE."

Automatically my teen resistance kicked in.

"It would be fun. Besides I would feel horrible if I didn't use them. Would you let me, for Aunt Addie's sake? Please?" I asked knowing the answer.

"No. You haven't even met the lady!"

I tried a different tactic.

"There are two tickets. You could Come with me and save me if I 'm about to splatter on the ground like a bug on a windshield." For some reason, I had a feeling I might actually win this one, despite my vivid mental pictures.

Don't you remember the last time you fell a long distance?"

I definitely remembered that dark time but I also remembered the elation before I hit the water.

"Yes, but I didn't have you to save me last time." I was hoping that I could persuade him by flirting my way through the situation. I pouted and gave him shame-less puppy dog eyes. "Please?" Edward was ready to give up. I could practically feel the melting of his resolve. His face showed sad defeat.

"Fine," he sighed "We'll go. You'd go without me anyway. I might as well go with you. And your Aunt Addie will be happy. Okay?"

"Perfect!" I had won! YESS!

Edward pulled out his phone, explaining," We don't want a repeat of last time. There's no telling what Alice would do."

"Alice, its Edward… yes, I know…We planned it. Long story, I'll tell you later…You sure nothing bad will happen? well, if you really want me to go, if you're sure…ok,bye."

My Adonis turned his head toward me and said," We're good to go."
