His hands dwarf hers.

The contrast is stark. He's tall, she's not. She's shy, he lives for attention. It's a surprise to everyone.

And yet they work so well together that it seems strange to think of a time when they were apart.

He'll sometimes grab her hand and just observe it- how it looks so tiny and pale and soft in contrast to his rough, tan skin.

He'll hold her hand when they're walking around and she points excitedly around, or when she's on her portscreen and he wants her attention. He holds her hand so often that it feels weird to not be holding it. It feels empty without it.

(He makes sure he holds it as often as he can.)

When she touches his hands, her own are cold. He'll take them in his own and warm them up.

She'll get that one dimpled smile and he just has to take a moment to collect himself because there's no way someone can be that adorable.

He thinks he might have a heart attack.

He remembers when she got her first pair of shoes.

They had been bright red high-top converse. She had explained that they were from sometime and someplace (he wasn't listening because she looked so cute and excited and his mind just stopped for a minute).

When she tried them on she was beaming and - spades. He had to bite his lip to keep himself from smiling so hard.

(He thinks he drew blood.)

Cress, of course knows this and uses it to her advantage. She'll wear those shoes everywhere and almost starts crying when the sides tear. He quickly promises her new ones.

(What can he say- he's a sucker for those big blue eyes)

She gets sky blue high tops. She tells them that she loves them because they match his eyes.

(Thorne has trouble breathing because his chest hurts.)

If he had to count on his hands how many times he caught her jumping on the counter to reach something on the top shelf, he'd run out of hands. To be fair, the Rampion does have fairly high cupboards, but he can reach them without even going on his toes.

Sometime's he'll watch her struggle from the doorway just for a minute before giving in and helping her, not even stretching the slightest to reach it.

When she's sitting on the counter, they can almost see eye to eye. When Cress is mad about something, she'll try her best to be eye level with him, but it always ends up with her tipping her head back. To be fair, this does help with the tears that angrily form at the bottom of her eyes. Thorne doesn't handle tears well; or perhaps he handles them too well. One single drop down her cheek and he gets all wide-eyed and goes into mother hen mode.

(He doesn't like it when she cries. He feels an ache in his heart for her.)

And then she's kissing him and he has no time to think about the pain in his chest anymore.
