"Admit it, you missed me."

"What makes you so sure about that?"

"Because we always found each other. Now you tell me that ain't lo- the laws of attraction at work."

"That was fate. And circumstance. Besides, how could I have missed someone I didn't even remember?"

"The same way I missed you."

Straightforward and matter-of-fact.

That's just the way he was. A dozen different lifetimes, a dozen different lives, and nothing ever changed. He may not have remembered but he always ached.

No matter where you are. No matter what you look like.

And now he knew why.

"Kenren."

It had been some time, but the name rolled easily off his tongue and rang clear in his ears. It tasted like honey, sounded like home.

"Yeah?"

"I missed you."
