Scorpius

"Bubba!" I wince at the shrill yell, sinking further down into my chair. Sis rarely enters the library—it's too stuffy for her. She's been following everyone around all day because mom said it was too cold for her to go outside. "Scorpius, where are you?!"

Just ignore her and focus on your essay, she'll go away. After a few moments of silence I let out a quiet sigh. The large, oak door swings open and in walks Octavia, a scowl on her face.

"Momma said to stop ignoring me," Octavia says, sitting next to me. "What'cha doing?" The ten-year-old is smiling now, unruly brown hair going everywhere—much like our great-aunt Bellatrix's did.

"I'm writing an essay for potions class." She nods before laying her head on her arms and watching me write. Sighing, I lay my quill on the table and turn to face my little sister. "What do you want, Avi?" (A/N: Pronounced A-V)

"What was your first year at Hogwarts like?" Genuine worry shines in her innocent grey eyes. Brotherly instincts kick in and I pull her onto my lap like I always do and always will. She is my baby sister, you know.

"It was a little scary at first, but by the end I didn't want to come home." I tickle her, making her laugh. "I bet you'll like it even more than I did, there are lots of places to explore and Grandpa's a great Potions Master."

"Are the kids mean?" I should have known this would be coming—she's had some bad nightmares lately about bullying because dad was a Death Eater.

"Tell you what, if any kids are mean to you just come find me and I'll put 'em back in their place." This causes her to giggle, which makes me smile. Being a fourth year and in many of the Professor's good graces means I can get away with a few things, especially if I'm protecting my sissy. I love Avi and can't stand to see her upset.

"Bubba?" Her soft voice is serious, eyes wide. I raise an eyebrow, silently urging her to continue. She lowers her head, playing with the buttons on my shirt. "Do you think gramma and papa will bring presents?" I chuckle, tucking a curl behind her ear.

"Considering it's Christmas Eve, I think there's a big chance that they will." Avi is a bit slow, having taken a bad fall at two. Sometimes she acts as if she were six and things seem to slip her mind pretty easily, but not things she takes a big interest in; like potions, an interest she gets from our father. She laughs again, giving me a hug and hopping to her feet.

"Try to stay out of mom's way while she's cooking." Octavia nods her head, curls bouncing as she turns and heads towards the door.

"Scorpius, you spelled Amortentia wrong."
