Hilde sat in front of the fire starring into the flames, lost in thought.
'Oh Duo, Why'd you leave me?'
The tears spilt down her cheeks for the first time since she had found out that Duo was dead. She sighed and remembered their last day together.

"C'mon Hilde! Come play in the puddles with me!" Duo shouted, playfully pulling Hilde into the water after him.
/It was the last walk in the rain/
"Duo!" she shrieked as the muddy water splashed up around her, soaking her jeans.
/I'd Keep you out for hours in the storm/
"Come on, Duo, lets go inside. Please?" She begged, pulling at his coat.
/I would hold your hand/
"Awww babe, a little water never hurt anyone" Duo pouted as Hilde feebly attempted to pull him into the house.
/Like a life line to my heart/
"Yeah but thats a *little* water, not a monsoon" she replied glaring up at him through drenched bangs.
/Underneath the thunder we'd be warm/
Hilde crossed her arms over her chest and shivered as thunder rumbled over head.

"Fine, Hilde-babe, We can go in now" He sighed and led the way into the house.
/It was our last walk in the rain/

Hilde looked down at the scorched cross in her hand, the only possession found of her beloved Shinigami's in the terrible fire that had stolen his life.

She looked up half expecting to see Duo standing behind her and ginning. Half expecting to hear him jump out and yell "Surprise!" It was all a big joke, a huge joke. But no, It wasn't a joke- or a dream. He was really dead.
/So unaware I foolishly believed/
'You said you'd never leave me.' Hilde thought as the tears once again welled up in her eyes.
