chapter 1
A grey, and white pup walked through the woods alone. It was late afternoon, and the sun was quickly going down.
"Got to find shelter" Humphrey told himself.
Humphrey looked around for shelter, but found nothing. He smelt a territory marker on the ground in front of him. He tried to decide what to do.
"They might help me" Humphrey said crossing into a packs territory.
He continued into their territory, looking for a place to sleep for the night. by the time he found a den the sun had gone down. it was a small spot under a rock. It was uncomfortable, but he was exhausted, and fell asleep quickly.
A golden, Tan wolf woke up late afternoon to go outside an invesigate. She was the pack leaders daughter. She walked into the forest next to the feeding ground. She walked past a rock, but saw something. She looked at a gray wolf that almost perfectly blended in. Kate decided to wake him up.
Kate nudged the pup in front of her. Humphrey quickly jumped to his feet in defencive possition. They looked into eachothers eyes for awhile, and they both relaxed a little.
"Who are you and what are you doing in out territory?" Kate asked.
"I need help" Humphrey said.
"With what?" Kate asked.
"I need an adult" Humphrey said.
"I'm old enough" Kate protested.
"Adult, please" Humphrey begged.
"I'll be back" Kate said.
Kate ran to her parents den. Humphrey waited patiently for her to return, and soon enough she did with another tan wolf. Eve inspected this new pup.
"Who are you" Eve asked.
"Humphrey... i need to hide".
Just as he finished he heard a familar howl behind him. Humphrey looked behind him, and saw a pure white wolf with a huge scar. Humphrey bolted between Eve, and Kate. He was out of sight in seconds.
"Go back to the den and get daddy okay" Eve said.
"Okay" Kate said running off.
Kate ran into the den where her dad was waiting. Winston looked at her daughter concerned.
"Whats wrong Kate?" Winston asked.
"Mom needs help" Kate said.
"Wait here" Winston said.
Winston sprinted off towards the feeding grounds. By the time Winston got there, the whole pack was there, along with a group of white wolves.
"Get out of our territory" Eve growled.
"We only need the pup"
"Leave" Winston yelled.
"Its just a pup it doesn't matter. lets just leave"
The group of white wolves disapeared through the forest. Eve looked over at Winston, and got his attention.
"Can you go find the pup" Eve said.
"Yeah. i'll fallow his scent" Winston said.
Winston lowered his nose to the ground and fallowed the scent at a brisk pace. Eve ran back to the den to check on Kate. As Winston continued fallowing Humphrey's scent, Kate ran up behind him.
"What are you doing here?" Winston asked.
"Mom said i could come with you" Kate said.
Winston walked on with Kate fallowing close behind. Winston fallowed his scent to a patch of tall grass where he was hiding. Winston walked into through the patch of grass.
"Please don't kill me" Humphrey begged.
"Why would i kill you?" Winston asked.
"Because they want me dead" Humphrey said.
"We're not going to hurt you" Kate said.
Humphrey looked past Winston, and starred at Kate. this was the first time he noticed how beautiful she was. Kate blushed because she knew he was starring at her. Humphrey noticed this, and also blushed.
"I should be leaving" Humphrey said.
"Where are you going?" Winston asked.
Humphrey shrugged as he walked away.
"Wait. you can stay with us" Kate said.
"I can't, but thanks for the offer" Humphrey thanked.
"We have food" Kate said.
Right after she said that, Humphrey's stomach grumbled. Winston and Kate laughed a little. Humphrey turned around to face them.
"I guess i could stay awhile" Humphrey said.
Winston led the two back towards the den. Kate walked beside Humphrey the whole way. Kate wanted to know more about Humphrey so she began to ask questions.
"How old are you?" Kate asked.
"Eight months" Humphrey said.
"Your only a month older" Kate said.
"Cool" Humphrey said.
Winston walked into the den, leaving Kate and Humphrey outside. Kate began to walk in, but noticed Humphrey waiting outside. She walked back, and sat next to him.
"Come on, you can sleep with me" Kate said.
"Okay" Humphrey said blushing.
Kate walked into the den, this time with Humphrey fallowing. Kate waited for Humphrey to choose a spot. Humphrey laid down on the side of the entrance, and Kate laid down next to him. This made both of them blush. They both rested their head on the ground at the same time. "This might be my knew home" Humphrey thought before going to sleep.
