I remember someone once mentioning to me that every ending in life only brought pain. Pain from the sorrow of loosing someone, pain from good times past, or the pain of remembering the hard times, and I know that I may sound like a spoiled prince as I write this, but I refuse to believe such things. I have strived all of my life to prevent pain, and I hope that in my death you remember that.

Every ending in life brings a new beginning, a new chapter in the book that is life. It took me a while to except this. As you know, it is hard for Elves to comprehend death to any degree, whether it is a tree, a man, or a fellow Elf, and to except the fact (yes, the fact) that their death brought a new beginning was almost insulting at first. My thought's at the time were that we should not be celebrating a new beginning when we had just lost something, or someone. As I grew older and wiser my thoughts changed. Where once I doubted death brought anything good now I think of all the wonders each ending gives us, the wonder of new life, or of new joys to be found. Each ending gives us something different and who are we to question what we are given? The saying "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" comes to mind.

As I write this, I've already excepted the fact that I will not live to see the rest of your life, nor the life of the child that your beloved Arwen is carrying. I hope that you are not mad at me for leaving so soon mellon nin*, but we will see each other again. I have faith that the fellowship will reunite one last time. You, Gimli, Sam, Merry, Pippen, Gandalf, Boromir, and I in Mandos' Halls, I am already looking forward to it!

Do not grieve long for me toror' nin** and remember, there is no end in life, just new beginnings.

Aragorn gently folded the letter that his friend had sent him years ago, he still read it, and it still filled him with hope, and when things got bad, the letter seemed to make the world a brighter place. It was his friend's final farewell and Aragorn's constant comfort.

"I remember, my friend."

So I finally found the inspiration to revise The Letter of Death and here are the results. I hope you enjoyed!

~Jaklyn-The-Pixie

*- My friend

**- My brother (I'm not too sure of this one, so let me know if it is wrong)

***- Sweet water and light laughter till next we meet

****- Farewell Hope (The name Elrond gave him as a child)

Constructive critisism is helpful, a 'thats a good story!' is nice, and flames heat up my house. So any comment is greatly enjoyed.
