The story's from Lane's point of view. It takes place at the tale end of the Luke Lorelai first breakup. After almost a month of watching her friend and boss get moodier and surlier Lane Kim finally gives her opinions after a surprise visit from Adolph (Emily).
She had just left and Lane came out of the store room having heard the whole conversation. She couldn't help but stare, unfortunately Luke noticed.
"What are you looking at?" said Luke.
"I hate to admit it but I agree with her." said Lane.
"Excuse me?"
"I said I agree with her Luke." said Lane. "And I've known the world of Emily Gilmore as long as you have. Hell maybe even longer."
"I have no idea what your talking about." said Luke finally turning from the coffee maker.
"Listen, Luke you're my friend first, my boss second. I'm sorry, but you have been Grumpy, Mopey, Dopey and about twelve other melancholy dwarves for the past three weeks." said Lane ticking them off on her fingers.
Luke stayed silent so she continued.
"I am tired of pretending that it's okay, you're surlier than ever. For god sake your food and coffee smells worse than Al's pancake world."
"What am I supposed to do Lane?" asked Luke.
"You know where she lives." said Lane opening the door but turning back for a moment. "Lose the stupid pride and fear and go get her back." The she left to have Luke consider the lecture.
