Memories

North Carolina

Caroline Jones-Kirkland sat on her patio in her country home overlooking Mount Mitchell. Previously she'd been digging through a box of her old revolutionary things. Boy, had it brought memories. Ones she'd all to well wanted to forget, but then she didn't control life so that couldn't be helped. Pushing a strand of her runaway light-ish brown hair, which always seemed to hang down her face even when she had her hair in a ponytail(1), Squinting her emerald green eyes at some old yellow documents she read in Old English writing "Mecklenburg Resolve ". It brought back that memory of that day she'd declared independence.

May 20, 1775

"What is the meaning of this!" cried an outraged Britain.

"Papa, it can't be helped, my people have made their decision! I'm doing what is best for my people."

Her people had just declared their independence from Great Britain with them signing the Mecklenburg Resolve.

"Fine so I see you don't need me I'll be leaving. See you on the battlefield." with that Britain strode out. Thus leaving Caroline to feel empty from what had just happened

Battle of Guilford Courthouse

March 15, 1781

"This is the end Britain, you've lost why can't you just let us be free, dammit!" shouted Caroline across the battlefield.

"Like I said to America , I won't allow it!" with that reply the battle began. Shots rang out, cries of wounded men were heard, smoke appeared.

In the end they had lost, but not without taking a quarter of British soldiers with them. Cornwallis's troops headed to Yorktown were they were trapped by American and French soldiers( French by sea). Thus making them surrender because of lack of supplies and that they were outnumbered.

"What's with the melancholy look?" asked her twin sister who appeared out of no where.

"Shit! Jesus, Cora don't do that! When'd you get here anyway?" cried Caroline.

"Whaaat I can't visit my twin! How cruel Caroline." cried her sister in a fake hurt tone.

"Shut your pie hole!"

"Hahahaha now that's my sister!" Cora said while laughing.

"Har Har Har now… would you like some sweet tea?" asked Caroline

"Hellz yes!" cried Cora.

She never did answer her sister why she looked so melancholy. She finally understood what her father(America) felt. Though she's still a fighter, just as what General Greene had said "We fight, get beat, rise, and fight again".
