~Prologue~
Two young children frolic and play in a beautiful meadow. The air is pure, and the grass is a vibrant green. Bright red flowers are in full bloom all around.
"C'mon, Riku-chan, let's play tag! You're it!" The young boy teased the green-haired girl he was playing with. She was wearing an old shinto-style kimono that gave her the look of a little priestess.
"Hah! Try and catch me!" She teased back. The two chased each other around the field, welcoming the onlooking wild Pokemon to join their game.
A man dressed in odd clothing approached the children.
"Daddy!" The boy squealed in excitement and ran to the man. Riku followed him, but she stopped a few feet away as the boy hugged his father's middle. Riku disliked the man; she thought he gave off a peculiar aura, and his strange clothes did not help her opinion. He wore a long, multi-colored cloak with two eyes embroidered on the front.
"Come hither, young Miss Riku. I have something to show you. Son, why not stay here and play with the Pokemon?" The boy nodded his head in agreement, and grinned.
"See you in a bit, Riku-chan!" The boy waved his arms high above his head in goodbye as the two left the clearing. Riku followed the man into the deep forest. When they had traveled to the part of the forest where no light touched, he stopped and turned around. He took a small golden cube from his pocket.
"Here, Riku. Look at this," He showed the cube to her. "This cube has the power to transform anything into what its heart reflects. Here, touch it." He offered the cube to her. Riku looked reluctant to take it at first, but she tried to banish all of her doubts from her mind, and touched it gingerly.
A great flash of light, and nothing was left but the little golden cube. The man took the cube and placed it in the ancient shrine behind him. The man left, and returned to his child in the clearing. He found that his son had been waiting for him at the edge of the forest, but had not dared to go in.
"Daddy! Where's Riku-chan?"
"Riku went home. To where she belongs."
"Oh, she went home? Okay, I'll play with her tomorrow, then!" The small child beamed up at his father, and Ghetsis flashed the most malicious smile he had ever worn.
