The slam of the door signified that the argument between her daughter and herself was finished. Andromeda tried to plead with Nymphadora to not go to Hogwarts. But her pleads feel on almost deaf ears.

Andromeda clung to her beautiful grandson, letting herself release the tears that flooded her eyes. Her husband, Ted, had been missing for months and now it was possible that she would lose her daughter and son-in-law.

It was only an hour or so before the cries of baby Teddy started. And try as she might, she couldn't stop the baby's cries. She felt for sure, then, that she had lost her family. Her wonderful Ted, whom she gave up a life of luxury because she loved him; her darling Nymphadora, the daughter she always wanted and was SO proud of; her son-in-law Remus, whom she came to care for because her made her Dora happy and gave her her grandson. She felt so alone, even with baby Teddy there in her arms.

Eventually, Andromeda was finally able to calm the cries of Teddy. She readied him for bed, something that should have been done long ago, as it was nearing dawn. She then readied herself as well.

Just as she was to climb the stairs, the front door flew open. She turned, with pure hope in her eyes.

"Andromeda," came a hoarse voice of a man. But even with it sounding as if it hadn't been used in months, Andromeda knew who it was.

"TED!" she yelled as she ran into his open arms. "My goodness, I thought you left me forever!"

"Never, my darling!" Ted said quietly, rubbing her back gently. "Never."

"I see how it is," said another voice; female this time. "Wish Dad a welcome home but not the daughter you gave birth to?"

Immediately, Andromeda flew from her husband's arms and into her daughter's. "Oh, Dora! I love you so much, sweetheart! I am so glad you're okay."

"Mum, I'm fine! Just as I said I would be," Nymphadora said, patting her mother on the back.

"We took care of each other, Andie," said another voice. "We're safe now. Voldemort's gone for good."

"Remus!" Andromeda flung her arms around her son-in-law. "I am so sorry I ever doubted you," she whispered in his ear.

"It's alright," Remus muttered back to her. "I never held it against you. I understood."

"I'm so glad you three are alright," Andromeda sighed. "A little worse for wear, but at least alive."

Andromeda cleaned the three of them up, fixed anything that was broken, and sent them to bed for rest.

"Thank you for watching Teddy, Mum," Nymphadora said, Teddy in her arms, as she and Remus went to bed.

Andromeda cupped her daughter's cheek as she walked by. "I'm sorry for yelling at you, dear."

"Mum-don't."

Andromeda nodded and followed her husband to their own bedroom that they had shared for so many years. She snuggled up to her husband, something she didn't exactly know how bad she had missed while he was away.

"I love you," she whispered to her husband.

"As I love you, my dear," Ted whispered back before sleep overtook the both of them.

Andromeda awoke with a start, a loud knocking on her front door and baby Teddy crying. Her husband wasn't next to her and, after picking up Teddy from the crib in her room, noticed Nymphadora and Remus weren't to be found as well. She answered the door and in the doorframe stood Kingsley Shacklebolt.

"Kingsley! To what do I owe this visit?" Andromeda asked.

Kingsley bowed his head. "I bring bad news, Andromeda. Remus and Nymphadora died in the battle last night. Ted was found dead not long after."

Andromeda collapsed onto the nearby sofa. Last night had all been a dream. Her family really hadn't came home to her. She was all alone now. It was just her and Teddy, facing the world alone. All she could do was cry; and cry she did.
