Aelita sighed, letting her head rest on her desk. Homework, almost done after about an hour, but still just as boring. She glanced sideways at the picture beside her. Seeing it made her sides tingle, and she shivered with the sudden coldness. That picture was taken a year ago, her with her old friends for the last time. Their eyes, glossy with tears, sparkled with laughter at Odd's joke. Odd could always make her smile, even when she only wanted to cry. She felt tears prick her eyes so she shook them away. It had been a year since she'd heard from any of them. Yumi's family had moved back to Japan, and Ulrich changed schools so he could be closer to home, that's what he said, but everyone knew it was to help him get over leaving Yumi. Jeremie had been moved to a school for gifted kids, and Odd's parents made him move back to Holland so he could live at home. Which had left Aelita all alone. The whereabouts of her friends were now unknown to her, she could no longer reach any of them by phone. She stood up, casting a glance at the last sheet of paper for her to fill out.
"I'll do it later," She promised the empty dorm room. Aelita walked along the familiar streets, knowing that the place she was headed would only add to the sadness she already felt, but not caring in the slightest. She walked across the old bridge towards the abandoned factory. The ropes were old and musty, but still strong enough to hold her weight. She slid down it into the factory. There, in the elevator, stood a person, taller than she was, for his chin was at her eye level.
"Hello?" She said, wondering of she should have just left, but knowing that it was too late now. The person jumped, turning around to face her.
"Oh, Hello, I didn't know anyone came here anymore." The person said, looking sheepish, it appeared to be a man.
"I thought I was the only one," Aelita replied, somewhat sadly. She looked towards his feet. His shoes were red. Where had she seen red shoes before? Aelita couldn't remember, and it taunted her.
"I haven't been here in years." The man replied, he looked at her head, she could feel his eyes on her pink hair, but she didn't care. Something about this person was familiar, his red shoes, his purple bell-bottoms, and his blonde hair, they all reminded her of…
"Odd?" She thought aloud, "Odd Della Robbia?" Aelita looked into his eyes, could this one of the people that she had been missing so terribly for the past year?
"What?" He whispered, taken aback, "How do you, AELITA?" He ended up yelling her name, cutting himself off mid-sentence, "Aelita Schaeffer?" Aelita's eyes watered and she nodded.
"Aelita, I thought," Odd said, stepping towards her his arms spread wide, "I thought I'd never see you again."
"I thought so too," Aelita said, her voice quavering as tears of happiness rolled down her face she stepped into his arms, wrapping him in a hug.
"I've missed you." He whispered into her shoulder.
"I missed you too," Aelita whispered back, her voice muffled by his shirt, "I missed you more than anyone."

-Sigh- short isn't it? Oh well, it's a one-shot anyway, so that's the end. No more from this story.
