Dobby Dibert was born on December 17th in the elf year of Laces. He was born to Flibby and Jibby Dibert along with his brothers Ribby and Uibby. The Diberts served under the noble pureblooded line of Malfoys. They were diligent hardworking elves who did whatever it took to make their masters happy. After all, a merry master made a merry elf.
"DOBBY, Master Lucius and Mistress Narcissa will wake in 10 minutes!" yelled his mother Flibby.
"I know mother," started Dobby. "Everything is -"
"HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU THAT MISTRESS NARCISSA'S SOCKS MUST BE FOLDED AT 8/9 OF A QUARTER AND NOT 7/9!" shouted his mother. This was the second time he had made a mistake since mother noticed Mistress did not wear the pair and chose from another drawer.
"You know Dobby, with great honour comes great responsibility", sighed his father, "Out of all the creatures in all the realms, you have been chosen to be an elf and that is the greatest honour of all."
"GO!" barked his mother, "Polish the floors until your arms bleed."
"Yes, Mother", obeyed Dobby as he ran to fetch the equipment.
"When will he learn?" his mother complained. "I just want him to live a happy life and become a noble elf".
"Don't worry Flibby, one day he will learn and live up to the Dobert name," reassured Jibby.
Dobby sulked as he was on his fifth round of polishing the tiles. "Why do they always single me out? I hate being the disappointment. I wish I wasn't an -" he thought midway before he heard a loud BANG followed by screams. Dobby raced back to the kitchens but was knocked out of the way by an annoyed Lucius Malfoy.
"INSOLENT CREATURES!" screeched Lucius, "They deserve to die if they can't even take on the simple task of running a kitchen".
Dobby heard banging on the kitchen doors but couldn't open them for fear of his life as Lucius sealed them with a spell.
"YOU!" rounded Lucius as he pointed to Dobby . "You better clean up this mess and dispose of those filthy corpses once the doors open."
"Its all my fault" thought Dobby as he fought off tears, "If only I hadn't distracted them they wouldn't have made a mistake".
In that moment in time, Dobby made a promise to himself; he would be the greatest house elf to have ever existed, no matter the costs.
