Instant DVDs

Summary: This is what happens when you watch too many Mel Brooks movies and too much Stargate. Sadly there is no one to blame but me.

Spoilers - Doppelganger (404)

Rating - K

Pairings - Only if you don't blink.

Disclaimer - I own nothing of Stargate. I'm simply out of my Everlovin' mind. The transcript came from Gateworld.

This is from the show

"We could give it a chance to leave – to go home," Teyla's voice sounded hopeful.

"Back in the crystal," Sam confirmed.

"Sure. Why not? Send it through the Gate back to it's planet." John's delivery seemed distracted - as if part of him forgot the others were still in the room..

"I've heard of people being talked through waking dreams before. Maybe – maybe McKay can be hypnotized into a state where he could somehow communicate with it." Sam sounded excited by the possibility.

"He has successfully meditated into an altered state before." Teyla added that information.

"Yeah. That was after he was genetically altered." John seemed sorry to put a damper on their ideas.

"I'm sorry – what? You want McKay to ask this thing to leave?!" Ronon was clearly skeptical.

"We are talking about McKay. Scary things are not exactly his strength." John was emphatic about that.

"And he's up against a creature apparently capable of manipulating his subconscious," Sam agreed.

"I wish there was a way for one of us to get in there." John was oblivious in his musings.

"Into McKay's dreams?" Sam confirmed.

"Yeah, you know, help him out; give him a little moral support." John looked to Sam. "Come on – all the things you've seen, you've never come across a way for one person's dreams?"

As Sam practically ran out of her office, Ronon called after them, "Where's she going? What's going on?"

and now with my part of the story

"Radek, I need you to get me Stargate: Atlantis' Season 4 DVD's."

John's jaw dropped to the floor. "Sam, you know that we're still filming the episodes right? And this is only the fourth episode of the season. How are there going to be the DVD's?"

"Several years ago we encountered an alternate reality that had the technology to produce the VHS tapes while the movies were still being produced. We simply updated the technology to accommodate our changing technology. We're calling it 'Instant DVD's.' We'll be seeing Blue Ray disks in real time before long."

Radek searched through the Atlantis database. "Aah here it is. Just give me a minute to cue up the correct DVD."

"Now we need to find the correct chapter. Hmm. 'I'm my own science team.' Saw that. Ronon's a shipper too - saw that. 'I can't wake her' - saw that. Ah here we are. Cue up chapter 4."

The movie showed on the large display in the control room. John was confused. The movie was showing the five of them in the Control Room. "When is this in the movie?"

"Now. We're looking at now." Teyla thought the answer was obvious.

"Fast forward it to where we figure out how to help out McKay!"

Finally the entity was returned to its planet of origin. And then the questions came. "What's this I hear about advanced technology that I know nothing about? You know that I am my own science team." Rodney was put out to have missed something cool.

"It was really cool, Rodney. Sam here pulled out the Instant DVD's for Stargate Atlantis Season 4. It was how we knew to use the VR chairs." John had a little boy grin on his face.

"Huh. So we are working to integrate all the other technologies we've found through the gate. Why not that one?"

"Are you kidding, McKay? Think about it. Box office sales would crash except the shows with really cool F/X stuff. There would be nothing on TV. All you would have to do is go down to Wal-Mart and buy the movie or the box set." Sam pointed out the obvious.

"Besides," Ronon chimed in. "Then we wouldn't get all the really great spoilers."

A/n: Pretty please review! They're like ice cream sundaes! And just as necessary!
